Methylene Urea(MU) is synthetized from urea and formaldehyde under some condition. If urea is used more during reaction of urea and formaldehyde, short-chain urea formaldehyde slow release fertilizer will be produced.

Depending on different solubility of nitrogen fertilizer in water, nitrogen can be divided into water soluble nitrogen (WN), water insoluble nitrogen (WIN), hot water soluble nitrogen (HWN), and hot water insoluble nitrogen (HWIN). The water means 25±2℃ water, and hot water means 100±2℃ water. The slow release degree is indicated by activity index value (AI). AI=(WIN-HWIN)/WIN*100%. Different AI values decide the slow release degree of methylene urea nitrogen. Short chains are more soluble and easily resolved by micro-organism in soil, accordingly longer chains are more insoluble and needs more time to be resolved by micro-organism.

Our MU manufacturing process adopts our developed patented technology, which has simple process route and characteristic of easy control. We can produce granular and powder MU, which has cold water insoluble nitrogen range from 20% to 27.5%, activity index range from 40% to 65% and the total nitrogen range from 38% to 40%.

 The reaction process uses characteristic of urea’s heat of solution and released heat in reaction process sufficiently, which consumes low energy. The granular produced has good hardness and little dust.

MU in granular form has the size range from 1.0mm to 3.0mm, and the powder ranges from 20 mesh to 150 mesh.

MU is an important slow release nitrogen resource. Nitrogen resource of MU releases and dissolves slowly under action of water and micro-organism in soil. Purified MU is white and can be made into powder or granular. Most of them are used to be blended or mixed into N,NP,NK or NPK fertilizer. Greater efficiency is reached when MU are blended with other soluble nitrogen sources. By mixing different quantities or ratios of MU, different NPK analysis and percentages of Slow Release Nitrogen can be reached.
