Potassium sulfate, with the chemical formula K2SO4, is an inorganic salt and an important water-soluble potassium fertilizer for global agriculture. For large agricultural companies, fertilizer distributors, and international traders, potassium sulfate is a reliable product for chlorine-sensitive and sulfur-loving crops, as well as a key raw material for chlorine-free NPK compound fertilizers.

Generally, agricultural potassium sulfate contains 50%–52% K2O and about 18% sulfur (S). Pure potassium sulfate is a colorless crystal, while agricultural-grade potassium sulfate usually appears as a light yellow product. It has low hygroscopicity, low caking tendency, good physical properties, and is convenient to apply.

Why Choose Potassium Sulfate?

Potassium sulfate is especially suitable for high-value economic crops such as tobacco, grapes, sugar beet, tea, potato, flax, and various fruit trees. It is also widely used as the main raw material for producing chlorine-free nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium ternary compound fertilizer.

As a chemical neutral and physiological acid fertilizer, potassium sulfate can be applied to a variety of soils, excluding flooded soil, and to many crops. After application, potassium ions can be directly absorbed by crops or held by soil colloids.

Potassium sulfate is also recommended for Cruciferae crops and other crops that require more sulfur, especially in sulfur-deficient soils.

Packaging Options

Available packaging includes 25 KG, 50 KG, 1000 KG, and 1250 KG bags, as well as OEM color bags. This flexibility supports bulk agricultural operations, distributors, and private-label trade requirements.

Usage Precautions

  1. 01. In acid soils: Excess sulfate may increase soil acidity and may aggravate the toxicity of active aluminum and iron to crops. Under flooded conditions, excessive sulfate can be reduced to hydrogen sulfide and cause root blackening. Long-term application of potassium sulfate should therefore be combined with farmyard manure, alkaline phosphate fertilizer, and lime to reduce acidity. In practice, drainage and sun-drying measures should also be combined to improve ventilation.
  2. 02. In calcareous soils: Sulfate can react with calcium ions to form insoluble calcium sulfate, i.e., gypsum. Too much calcium sulfate may cause soil hardening, so more attention should be paid to the application of farm manure.
  3. 03. Crop priority: Potassium sulfate should be focused on crops such as tobacco, tea, grapes, sugarcane, sugar beet, watermelon, and potato. Since potassium sulfate is priced higher than potassium chloride and supply is relatively limited, it should mainly be used for chlorine-sensitive, sulfur-loving, and high-value economic crops.
  4. 04. In alkaline soils: This fertilizer is a physiological acid salt and may reduce soil pH when applied to alkaline soil.
